The theme for today’s novena is HOPE IN TRANSFORMATION AND REDEMPTION

The Conversion of Saul (Acts 9:1-19)
Reading: Acts Chp 9 vs 15-19
The Lord said to him,” Go, because I have chosen him to serve me, to make my name known to Gentiles and kings and to the people of Israel. And I myself will show him all that he must suffer for my sake.” So Ananias went, entered the house where Saul was, and placed his hands on him. “Brother Saul,” he said,” the Lord has sent me— Jesus himself, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here. He sent me so that you might see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit. At once something like fish scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he was able to see again. He stood up and was baptised, and after he had eaten, his strength came back.
Reflection: The conversion of Saul shows God’s transformative power and his boundless capacity for redemption. It emphasises that redemption can find us even when we are furthest from it. Despite his violent persecution of the early church, Saul was not only forgiven but also called into a position of immense influence. This highlights the nature of God’s forgiveness and his power to restore even those who have caused great harm. Saul was given a new name Paul and he was chosen as an instrument to preach about Jesus to the gentiles, a purpose entirely contrary to his previous one. It reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of grace and that even the most ardent opponents can become powerful advocates of Christ.
