The Matharpacady Residents Welfare Association organised the Whist Drive at St. Isabel’s High School hall on Tuesday evening, 18th April 2017. In the absence of Mr. Gerard Viegas who was unwell and Mr. Gilroy Henriques who was outstation, Stanislaus Baptista alongwith Percy D’Souza, Tyronne Concescio, Joe Pereira, Carole Viegas, and Dennis Baptista conducted the Whist Drive. The forty happy participants were eagerly applying their minds and skills at this enjoyable card game in friendship and cheer, in two sessions of six card games each. Hot tea and piping hot snacks were served at the break.
Attractive cash prizes were awarded to many winners from the highest to even the lowest scores. The delighted recipients – Mr. Derrick Valladares, with 91 points was the first prize winner with the highest points. The prize for the highest score in the first half was shared by Ms. Patricia Adams and Mrs. Renie Baptista with 48 points and the prize for the highest score in the second half was awarded to Ms. Mary Ann D’Mello with 49 points. The prize for the lady with the lowest score was given to Mrs. Dulcina Vaz (67 points) and the prize for the gent with the lowest score was given to Mr. Clifford Gore (61 points). All the winners received their gifts to much applause from all the others present.
Mr. Tyronne Concescio, thanked the participants and guests for making this a happy memorable function, besides the Trustees & Management of St. Isabels High School for the use of their premises. Tyronne also invited all participants to attend the Novena at the Holy Cross Oratory at Matharpacady Village, starting from Saturday, 22nd April and the Feast Mass on Monday, 1st May at 7.00 pm. Mr. Dennis Baptista invited the participants to our next function scheduled for Sunday, 18th June 2017 at the St. Isabel’s High School from 4.30 pm onwards. The participants thanked the Committee members for bringing them together at these functions in the spirit of friendship and camaraderie before bidding “Good Night” and were looking forward to more such sessions.
