  • Matharpacady Cross – Daily Rosary May 2021 – Tuesday & Friday

Matharpacady Cross – Daily Rosary May 2021 – Tuesday & Friday

Pope Francis is requesting that during this month of May the entire Church invoke the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the end of the pandemic and, in a special way, he is inviting all of us to pray fervently for those most closely affected by it. During each day of May, guided by a calendar with specific intentions, all the Shrines around the world, united in a communion of supplication, will lift up their prayers, which, like the fragrance of incense, will rise up to heaven. Thirty Marian Shrines will take turns leading this prayer throughout the Church and offering the faithful a series of prayer moments for them to participate throughout the entire day.

Our prayer intention for today is :

We Pray For The Departed Residents Of Matharpacady And Vicinity

  • Matharpacady Holy Cross – Feast Day – Thanksgiving

Matharpacady Holy Cross – Feast Day – Thanksgiving

The Cross is a symbol of the great love of God our Father for man and New Life through His Holy Spirit. Through the intense suffering and death of Jesus,  sin and hatred was destroyed and through His resurrection  Man became a New Creation. He was able to love, which could overcome hatred. This we see even today when Christians have been persecuted, and killed, but love still prevails; through forgiveness and faithfulness.

What from outside is simply brutal violence; the crucifixion, from within becomes an act of total self giving love. Today we celebrate 140 years of prayers being offered in front of this orator y. The crosses in Mazagon and all around Mumbai were erected to protect the residents from the plague. Today’s plague consist s of corruption, loneliness, injustice, persecution and violence. We pray during this Eucharist that the cross help us overcome the modern plagues that affect us. May this feast remind us to keep this catholic tradition alive in this 250 year old village and make us an example of our Lords love.

We entrust all this to Mary, mother of Jesus and our mother, present at the foot of the Cross.

Thanks and God Bless to one and all.

  • Matharpacady Holy Cross Feast Mass – 1st May 2021

Matharpacady Holy Cross Feast Mass – 1st May 2021

    In Times of Fear

Unprecedented near global lockdown. An unprecedented “plague” in the 21st Century. God’s punishment? Mankind’s abuse of the earth?  Who will be next?  Me?  When will a cure or the availability of vaccine be for all irrespective of rich or poor, caste or creed? Fear. Uncertainty.

    In Stormy Seas

In troubled seas the Cross of Christ is the only sure rock.  On the Cross Jesus Christ gave his life willingly to save you and me through Faith from eternal damnation, from swirling threats like pain, sickness, disease. Even from killer plague!  The Holy Cross Oratory built through the generosity of our ancestors and a certain Mrs Buthello is striking testimony.  As is, the unbroken tradition of the Novena since the 1800s. This is the 146th Anniversary of our Holy Cross Oratory.

    The Cross Our True Salvation

Come to MATHARPACADY this evening at 7.15 pm IST ONLINE to celebrate this Victory on the Cross with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Rev. Fr. Nigel Barrett specially for us. Here’s the link:

    Creating history again

This year, like last year, the Novena Services (that started on April 22) were taken online via our Village Blog and YouTube.  This benefits hundreds of believers across the Globe.

Once upon a time, in keeping with Matharpacady’s maritime nexus, on the Feast Day, the village used to be decorated with Ship’s Flags of myriad nationalities from round the globe.  Prophetic!  For, this year, this tiny Village hidden away in SoBo, has punched through space, time and quarantine to unite the faithful into one Praying Global Village

Indeed, it’s plague and pestilence that makes the shield of faith even stronger!

We entrust all this to Mary, mother of Jesus and our mother, present at the foot of the Cross.
